[Music] I'm Michael focused I work at Comcast as a software architect generally just working at scale we have you know quite large systems to work with that lasts a long period of time and one area that I think a lot of times is uh underlooked is a scale across time periods you know we have systems we'll build today that will live for 10 to 20 years we have to make sure that the technologies and choices we make can make the transition through any any issues we have during that time period yeah I would say just adjusting to you know unknown workloads making sure the systems we build can you know adapt to a various change changes in the usage basis of our apps I think more the same but we also see technology changing at quite a rate right now we're seeing a lot of adoption of functional programming as well as you know the the the bans of any given system are much higher than they ever have been so we want to make sure again that our systems can scale as those things occur but also that systems we we're building now will still be a you know relevant to our customers in the future by far functional programming is the technology that has helped us manage complexity across large teams you know working on small projects small teams we can we can typically survive without a lot of the techniques from functional programming but when we get to large distributed teams teams that change over time you know functional programming is the key technology it lets us manage that by far the hallway track you know I'd love to talk to folks in the community and talk together speakers and it's really a great group of people that are here at the conference you
