foreign my name is Evan Chan I'm a principal engineer architect at conviva Inc and I have a long history of building and designing scalable streaming Data Systems plus distributed databases I've spoken many times at scale by the bay on data Scala and rust I am excited to share with you at scale by the bay lessons that we at conviva learned porting a data pipeline from scholar to rust I'll be focusing on three themes one in the data World more and more processing Frameworks and databases are moving towards Native languages away from the jvm and rust is Wonder leaders find out why and what are the projects to watch in the space two I'd like to tell you what motivated our team to Port our code and as a team coming from varied language backgrounds what did we find easy and hard to learn and how do we tackle the challenges of learning such a difficult language three I'd love to tell you about some specific breast features that we're very excited about that bring more control and allow us to have type safety and performance at the same time we'll talk data structure stack dispatch enums and more looking forward to see me there
