hi my name is Alex Leong and I'm a software engineer at buyant and one of the maintainers of the Linker project Linker Is An Open Source service mesh and is a critical piece of infrastructure used by 911 call centers Healthcare organizations and financial services as well as many others in my talk 5 years of cloud native rust I'm going to be talking about how and why linery adopted the rust programming language rust is an increasingly popular language that provides both performance as well as memory safety two properties that are absolutely necessary for a service mesh I'll also be sharing our Real World Experience using rust in the cloud native ecosystem alongside things like kubernetes I'll discuss some of the lessons we learned along the way and why I think rust security and performance mean that it must become one of the foundational Cloud native languages I hope to see you there
