my name is salar Ronan uh I'm a Staff software engineer and at scale by the I'm representing myself so at work we're not using AI at at all but we're exploring ways where we can use AI um as it's kind of like a completely new thing to both me and the company I work for yeah so I I've been working on a lot of data engineering projects last one year and I think that will continue working a lot of data engine using spark and data breaks uh but also I think um also I wouldn't be surprised if an element of AI snuck in there at towards the end towards the end of the tail end of that the way their current market is going there was a talk I saw yesterday uh that um to tell you the truth there was there were multiple talks that I really enjoyed so it's it's a bit hard to single out one but the one that uh just popped into mind right now that I really enjoyed was the one about duck DB and the main reason that stuck with me was that it I had never heard of it before and it was very interesting on what you can do with duck DB and it kind of like is in line with what I do dayto day so it's got me excited to look more into it and give it a try and see see if there's any uh value in me using it somewhere um and without seeing that talk I probably would never have looked at it this is like the third or fourth year I've come to scale by the bay and for me it's the best uh place to go where you get to meet like-minded people uh talking about not just one technology multiple technology and you have lots to talk about and lots of interesting people to meet and I I feel I feel like it's better than a lot of the other conferences I've been to is because it's in a way independent it's not attached to a specific vendor and because of that you get a very diverse range of topics and a very diverse range of people that you get to interact with and and and and and meet and also I think there's like a core group of people that always is comes to scale by the bay and they're incredibly nice to interact with and it's become more more of like an expectation that seei next year scale by the way and where where you have a chance to catch up what what what we we've all been up to the last one year
