[Music] so hi i'm alex rosenheim i work at dynamic field which is a startup that kind of surprised a lot of people by being acquired by mcdonald's a few years back i work currently at the city office meaning we get to work on a lot of new and innovative things and one of these things is the topic of my talk today so i want to talk to you about funnel rocket which is a cool name for an open source uh project that we created it has all the right buzzwords so it's cloud native and serverless low cost high scale low operational overhead but instead of me just sharing you know the project and why it's cool i want to talk about how we came to this project about the frustrations that we all share operating big and complex and expensive always-on clusters at scale and then how we came up with a fresh look at the building blocks that the cloud can provide us and how we can glue together a bunch of really battle tested cool tools together that already exist and build something new which works at a scale and an efficiency that i just wish i had 10 years ago so that's the topic of my conversation and by the end i hope that you know what the hell cloud native actually means does it mean anything see you there you
