[Music] hello my name is bill vinners and i am on the program committee uh for scale by the bay and i uh i'm an old scholar guy uh i was an old java guy before that so i'm kind of an old guy but i wanted to show you how old um this is the i'll read it up here fifth edition of this book the programming scholar book uh that we just got the printed copies a week ago uh this covers scholar three it's got a 3.0 uh and this book first came out 13 years ago so that's that's how old uh how long i've been doing scala so scala 3 just came out and there's all kinds of new things to learn about scala and programming you know through scholar 3's features scale by the way isn't just about scala it originally was called scala by the bay and now it's scaled by the bay because it it's more about uh it has a data focus and um i guess the one thing i wanted to to say about it that i think makes it different uh for other conferences which is something i really like about it is that it's it is more eclectic like when i go there uh which i love going to it uh in person uh but um the talks i there's always a few talks that surprised me i didn't expect to see that subject and it's something completely different than i hadn't thought before and opens my eyes to something new so that that's what i think uh i would say about scale by the bay and i hope you uh i hope you attend thanks you
