[Music] I am a fun I'm a software engineer [Music] this is not my first time I spoke I scout by the bay last year as well I heard scale by the bay I guess just from the scala community in general it's a very well-known conference in the scholar community so the favorite part of my talk is to do those exercise with people so at the beginning for example I started by introducing myself saying that I'm a fun that I'm not technical that I hate math bad at technology walk down the street and offered a job in tech because I was a woman and I went to ask the audience you know how long did it take you to figure out that I wasn't serious and then I introduced to them what implicit bias means and then it was a very fun exercise to watch people like oh wow I do have inter you know I do have implicit bias inside me the most important part of my talk was to introduce calipers to people so scallop bridge is a community-based nonprofit organization that teaches people from minorities groups to learn Scala for free we have one-day workshops and also 12 week-long programs so you know in my talk I introduced help you can contribute by being mentors organizers and by just participating as students [Music] so I'm really excited about out of Burton's talk about today's infrastructure where it's right let me look at the title again it's called everything old is new today's infrastructure as yesterday's internet and he's gonna introduce Network protocols which is it just in the area that I'm super interested in and he's a great speaker [Music] yeah I'm really excited about you know like not only growing myself professionally but also help other minorities in tech to make career progress you know by introduced by for example helping them to become speakers you know we need more diversity representations on stage we need more minorities to be in leadership positions and I really want to not only advance myself career-wise but I want wants to help other people too to help to achieve their personal goals and career goals as well [Music] what I really like about scale by the bay is it this is a very great Orbis unity to bring people from the scala community together or just tech community together and it's a great chance for me to meet people who I don't already know and also good to see friends that I've known in the community what I like to see improvements on is I want to see a more actionable code of conduct meaning that as a minority if I get harassed at the conference who exactly should I be talking to and what's going to happen how do I protect myself at conferences at specifically Scotland Bay [Music]
