[Music] so I am Timbo Fletcher I work for crunchbase and where I manage the core platform team and the data insights team oh this is my first time speaking at scale by the bit yes how I heard about you actually the first scale by the beta conference I went to was the first one when it was still free a long time ago I had just joined the San Francisco scholar users group and our meetup group and I heard that Martin no dare ski was gonna be there so I went and so this conference has been very important to me for a very long time pretty much since it's an instance since its inception I think it's fun to take to talk about metadata as if it's a type system it really is but it really is a very big stretch to say that if the type system type systems are formal type systems are something that should be peer-reviewed that didn't matter to a much larger audience metadata is something that's that's at the core of CrunchBase is business but it's obviously not like that but I like making the assertion that it is scaling is all we've ever done at the crunchbase since I've been there I've been there are almost four years then we started as a very very small team trying to trying to build a product and then trying to build a platform and so as a software engineer I was there just trying to build something that we could sell as as a manager my entire job is trying to figure out how to take the things we know how to do and scale them out to larger and larger teams - to let this company ship for the motor [Music] I'm really excited about about the challenge of growth right now we just we just got our Series C and this this means we're entering a growth phase so our engineer organization is gonna grow from you know 30 to 50 or 80 people that's gonna be fun that's gonna there's gonna be a lot of challenges there to try to retain our culture while also growing that fast and I think that's that's my my primary concern over the next year and I think yeah it's a challenge I'm looking forward to my favorite brother Scott upscale by the bay is that this is where I get to come to Tim to meet my heroes [Music]
