[Music] my name is Ryan Knight I own a small consulting company called grin cloud we specialize in Scala and aqua consulting building large scale distributed systems for clients so my role is you know I'm I am the founder proprietor of an cloud and I have a number of contractors who work with me [Music] I've been actually speaking at scale by the bay since 2015 so this is like my fourth time at scale by the bay through third or fourth time so I've been coming here for a long time friends with Alexi and just a lot of the conferences he puts together you know got to know him through all the different meetups and conferences he organizes and it's just you need to enjoy coming back so my talk was originally the abstract was going to be best practices of Surrealists this week I had the opportunity to talk to a number of key people in the industry such as joseph pinara and kong Breck and they helped me see that the future of stateful server list is really going to be state lustreless so I'm telling you the competing paradigm for being stateless service applications mean stateful service and so I had an opportunity learning about stateful service and I really think that's going to change you know the future of cloud computing is we figure out how to bring state into our service functions [Music] I'm actually really looking forward to Evan Chan is talking about rust and Scala and how they can work together with the LLVM I'm really interested to see what Kevin doing there every channel is just very pioneering work around the street you know that kind of looking forward working the competing space so really looking forward to you know having learned about you know how we bring state into service functions I'm looking forward to looking you know working with my clients to see how I can you know bring these new paradigms of computing and use them at my clients and you know so use them in the the architecture with my clients and see how they apply there's some really interesting business use cases I'm currently working on where I think these things can apply I'm also really excited about a lot of the changes that are coming down I heard a couple of talks around you know the big data space there's a lot of really interesting improve it's coming down in that space and so I'm really looking for kind of this convergence of you know these these kind of next-generation data platforms and these new computing paradigms which the state will serve listen how these are all going to play together I like scale by the baby because it's not a huge conference I don't you know I feel like it's a good-sized conference where you get a chance to interact with everyone the thing I like most about scale by the biggest it continues to attract just amazing speakers and amazing attendees you know I mean it's not you know obviously speakers that make up the conference it's also about the attendees who attend and you know I I had the opportunity to workshop and to do a talk and interact with a lot of the attendees and the quality of questions and the thoughts and you know the discussion is around architecture where amazing and this this you know very engaged you know you know very next level thinking was it's it's really enjoyable experienced so I really enjoy you know kind of both sizes out of you know who ends up being at this conference and yeah [Music]
