Recording: Scale By The Bay 2018: Vlad Patryshev Interview
I am Vlad patrushev I currently work at Salesforce and the question of the city Peralta that's where I work I live in San Jose well the team where I am is called Einstein and so my like responsibility the part I've been working on is providing interoperability between the data in the core storage of Salesforce and the data that are being used for machine learning out by machine learning algorithms so to make sure that we have all types of data all types of fields are available and are adequately represented and passed around so that's that would what like my technical work is non-technical is making sure that me and my colleagues provide robust or never-failing code in Scala well it's not related to my talk right so basically like I'm I've been pushing so much for testing and unit testers at the time I feel like my colleagues feel like I'm a Kiwi or something no I'm not I want to make sure that people use like as much abstraction as is available and the code that is verifiable here every day every year I come to this event I see people that like spent a year like doing a very very advanced development so I am learning a lot like today today was probably the best day because category people like I am and today and they're sharing amazing ideas about a company using categories in Scala code the using it in day to day practice so I feel like ou can do it too and do it better well so I've been using Scala for ten years now and it converted me from a regular Java guy to a functional programmer with higher order types in Scala and basically I've been enjoying like my last 10 years of programming much more than I enjoy did before so like my life is getting better with Scala well just the the amount of people that are very advanced people that understand category theory people that know how to do like amazing stuff in Scala if P so basically I feel like home here you
