I am a deacon jealous I'm a lead data scientist at Target and I live in Berkeley California so pretty close sure so at work I'm responsible for our simulation platform and I think for me the most interesting thing is that I can actually go to a physical distribution center at Target and see the actual thing I'm simulating happening in reality at a pretty large scale it's very physical so I think I gravitate towards just the core programming programming ideas and especially functional programming sure so I'm gonna be talking about designing data structures and a particular data structure so it comes down to understanding how your data is actually being represented in memory and coming up with structures that have both the semantics and the performance that you need for your application I mean I'm always interested in how to scale systems up as you work with you know more data and more components and you need to kind of work with a larger more real-world set of problems honestly I mean I don't use Scala at all so I'm the wrong person to ask for this but I very heavily into functional programming specifically and I mean that's pretty much dictated how I write software just almost the entire time I've been programming you
