I'm Lucas pol I'm the founder of weights and biases and I live in San Francisco so we're building tools for machine learning teams specifically experiment tracking tools for machine learning teams and the coolest thing about it is that I get to watch so many teams build different machine learning models so we get to see across lots of industries what people are working on you know I think data pipelines is the most interesting track because I think that's the most important thing for making machine learning work well and I think that's where there's the most like kind of change in innovation going on so that's probably the track where I know the least and want to learn the most so yeah so the main thing that I'm gonna share is a simple thing but very few people do it which is save what you're doing so you can go back and figure out what you did a month ago it's a such a simple thing but it's such an important in best practice you know I'm really hoping to learn at this point in time and I think this is changing all the time I'm hoping to understand how companies think about using third parties in their data pipelines I'm wondering how many companies are kind of going to the cloud how many companies are moving things on prem and how companies think about moving around data inside their organizations okay here's all say about Scala I don't know much about Scala I'm kind of intimidated by functional programming but one thing I've noticed is that smart programmers always seem to like functional programming so it's something I look at on a resume and think wow that guy's gonna be smart well you know I'm really excited to I'm excited for the panel that I'm gonna host because it's actually a bunch of friends and I don't think that was intended but I think it's been kind of a tight community and not a lot of people been around you know for as long as some of us and so I'm really excited to see Richard Souter and Pete worden and Michelle and you know see what they have to say [Music]
