awesome so my name is Holden I'm a developer advocate focused on open source Big Data I work at Google and I'm based in San Francisco so I build a whole bunch of different things but the main thing that I build right now is Apache spark and I think it's pretty awesome because it's a great way of tricking people into learning functional programming and it brings a lot of people's the scylla community I mean I really care about data pipelines that's just what my whole world revolves around well since it's a panel and it depends on what kind of questions were asked but one of the things which terrifies me is that people don't seem to do a good enough job testing or validating their software can be challenging to do in a cloud environment when you don't have easy mocks of the services that you're building against but I think just because it's challenging doesn't mean that you don't need to and so I'll try and find a way to get people to test their software drinking Phil's coffee you have a different coffee vendor here than I'm used to [Music] I mean Scala changed my life in some pretty huge ways it allowed me to find a job writing functional programming code for money allowed me to trick people into learning functional programming for money I think it's pretty awesome and it also gave me a community of friends which I've really enjoyed I've been working in Scala for a long time and so it's really nice to watch the community grow and have all these friends that I never really thought I would have in programming the phils coffee is not as good as you're expecting but the talks are pretty great you
