you so my name is Ryan Dellucci and i work at AOL as a principal engineer for the go 90 product okay so so I started learning so I start getting involved Scala I've had some friends I've worked with it and have you know told me that yeah there's a lot of really it's a lot of great reasons to take a look at take closer look at the skull language so I've started attending SF scala meetups Scala Bay meetups and I've also went I went to the Silicon Valley salt Scala campus symposium which is sort of evolved in the Scala by the bay and I would say that that was like within the course of going up that leading up to two thousand eleven and by about two thousand twelve I decided that you know what I'm going to try to work on a actual real project in Scala so I was working at hott we're at the time with Java shop and I actually started to what I would do is I after work I just like head over to you know head over to an Irish pub and just sit down you know orders a beer pull out my laptop and just start learning some Scala and that that's how I started [Music] okay um so my might there's actually not too much difference between my ideal stack in actual when I'm working with so we're doing some really cool things at AOL so but yeah I'd say my ideal stack is of course the skull language using using you know either scalzi your cats and shapeless as far as like a wet web framework HTTP 4 s's is is go to for me we actually use probably a little bit more play and some spray in some places here and there but more play actually as far as like every time I like the database as well but actually do is to work with cassandra and cassandra is great the sky like great uses too but you know I've also found that postgres also works really uh you know for database technologies I mean I'm really looking forward to you know see Rob norris's talk yeah I think he's been doing live awesome work with with with his with his doobie library and I've actually played around with his uh so Rob Norris's is done some really awesome work with with his ax libraries auto and and doobie and those are I've actually used a little bit of both those are really really a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to stalk on where he talks about you know some of the category theory concepts i use you
