yeah so my name is Holden I work at IBM into the spark Technology Center and I'm an engineer and I focus on sort of improving spark and sort of doing community outreach around spark as well [Music] sure so I got into Scala because I really loved functional programming and I was working in a non functional language and I got a job offer from a company that when they interviewed me I did all of my answers and scheme and they were excited and we're like yeah we do functional programming it's in Scala and I'm like oh man that sounds exciting I should learn Scala and so I joined that company and that company was Foursquare and I learned Scala and it was it was a really wonderful experience [Music] that's that's a really good question um my ideal stack is it's really weird because I mostly work on the backend and I just work on this one thing so I don't really have a stack because I mostly just work on spark but like in the times when I'm actually doing data analysis and stuff like that my ideal stack is something like Kafka to spark out to Kafka or out to some sort of other serving system that I can use and my actual stack is really I don't have one I just I just work on spark and Scala and it's pretty awesome I I like working in Scotland so it's fun oh yeah so I'm okay so there's there's a few things can't can it be one of the talks that I already saw okay so the the sort of the getting to safer scala talk was i loved it it was like all of these wonderful tools i care a lot about sort of code quality and and all of that stuff and it's always exciting to hear other people that have the same sort of like passion for high quality code that that i do and sort of like learn about the tools that they've used and what their experiences are and so it was a really wonderful and really really useful talk
