Recording: scala.bythebay.io: Chris Phelps Interview
you my name is Chris Phelps I'm with tendril in Boulder Colorado I'm a software engineer there so I started a Java quite a few many years ago and started learning Scala four or five years ago kind of on the side and at first the people I was working with at the time were not inclined to try to use Scala but so I started looking for other opportunities and I found a place where we're about thirty percent Scala now and growing so it's a nice place to ramp up and learn not sure I have a good answer on what an ideal stack would look like what we're doing at tendril right now is a finagle based stack that we deploy in docker and those technologies have worked really well for us finagle works great for services service communication docker works really great for our deployment and DevOps management I'm not sure what an ideal stack would look like definitely there's edge rough edges around everything that we use and so I would think right now more evolutionarily than revolutionary so I have several friends who are speaking at the conference i'm definitely looking forward to hearing from them Julie's giving a keynote tomorrow I'm interested to hear about and the dogs to vet is talking about some stuff that's relevant to us with scala protocol buffers that i'm really looking forward to hearing about [Music]
