Reactive Systems and Microservices: Anand Patel Interview
Recording: Reactive Systems and Microservices: Anand Patel Interview
I'll come over buddy I'm electric travel or the organizer of reactive system split up and here we are it's runnable which is a very interesting company cares a lot about it these are first name here these guys invited us to have an exciting program today and so super try to Capernaum to tell about who is a little genere so what is your kind of definition of marketers so our definition of microservices if we like to keep it straight to the domain so one micro service would have one thing and do it correctly okay so anything you can have that does one functional thing is into the micro servers in our world so so people oops we get off and you build it so yep when people push to get up we'll build that and all the dependencies so if they have API you know some other service emailing service will build all three of those I will launch them together in the little cluster completely isolated from every from every other cluster you would have basically your production stack mm-hmm to test and review for as long as a grant slips right so but if you mean basically you can observe credit system see you can make link from exact hole exactly you have the you're basically entire production sex a week will provide you with a URL and you can visit it and they're all container so you can actually you know go in as mess around with the terminal go debug as well be there everything that you need to debug basically a sec well so the counselors from the special developers correct okay this is really cool I mean now that I heard this I felt like how can you know can anybody live without it yeah I will feel it like a very very literal thing so how long you guys been in business so we've been around for four years hmm we actually started with code inaudible calm which was just code snippet site and then that website you basically just paste the code snippet and we'll run it for you okay so we are very familiar with doc and containers oh my yeah and then we pivoted to throw this new product which is more for teams instead of just you know running code snippets where you can eat your entire stack and see the changes and review it so hallways because the cheapest product existed saying for four years look at if I we still have it hosted uh-huh so it's that code down when I'm gonna calm down interesting because I remember I kind of feel all of playing with a different site to format the cold right and then I came across goes bad which is something similar because of different languages right we should do right and then it would do that to wish but that's not trivial because then I need to figure out how to build this any pieces yeah write them like new locales are different from dinuba right so how did you guys I'm just curious like I like for linux like how like what kind of programming languages did you support in like its original right so in the original product we actually could support anything that ran on linux because under the hood we're using doctor and containers yes so we have you know base containers and then in the center site is just smaller things that you run like in a rebel or something and so you just have like one or two files and you can just you know run those simple simple skin so do you rely on customers to provide their own bill scripts okay okay well there's no there's no bills in there in the original one that's more with the new system that we have right right so let's say I like I must cover guy right so let's say one scholar so how should should I provisional the instance how do you make sure you know you have this publish I need right well so you have full access to the container so you can run you know you can get you your favorite packing manager and pull that in and read that as a container so right it's up to the developer to actually install the tools that they need and then we'll take it we'll just save that container because it's you know already has what you need from there we just keep launching those images and nobody needs to sell anything after the initial you know developer thanks in the correct requirements independence rather than the container so 0o summer boca roosevelt aj my life my friend so so what kind of winters did you see I mean miss all super interesting when you test the developers what kind of reaction do you see that well when we tested with developers they saw this was a problem because typical they only have like one or two staging environment and the code versions are out of sync one person deployed this another person deployed that they're not messing with each other so then you start you know debugging this and it turns out the reason was a broken is because you're you know service number two wasn't in the correct state it was you know some debug branch so having that ability to have your own like full stack environment helps people test faster and better you can you know hit the URL and tests right away as soon as you make it come in so that was a real advantage of the product that's where we talk us let's get really excited is when you have a PR will we provide you with a link and that link is basically your code running you can click on link check it out you know debug it right there on the fly directly from your PR right are you sorry I'm amazon yes we're all of our infrastructures on anybody see tube alright cool so so let's say you know I'm becoming a camera on amazon account do it I bet you'll come in with my credentials or do you run it for me so we offer on trend solution where we can connect your you know get up enterprise for the cloud offering you just connect with github and we suck everything in about it really okay I was through the cool how did you get interested in this place well i started at nvidia doing like you know low-level kernel driver so overly opposite and then i moved over to large-scale distributed system okay i was just really interested in the regional product the idea where you know anybody you know on a laptop or chrome chrome books they don't need all this hardware they can if they want to test something they can you know just go in the browser and you know edit code so from there we move to the to the newer product we always had issues here like ourselves during when we made the original website we were always fighting over staging people left in broken states like most of our time is fixing the staging environment so what really excited me was that you know we're providing these test environments and ultimately we're running every type of code possible from Ruby know Gia's Java because we're running you know dark eat dinner we have to support pretty much everything in anything so that's also really exciting that we answer you know figure out how to support all these different stacks right so it's all the work right this is a grassroots right you know this is very interesting to me when we do connection because I'm also doing an AI example and envision is very strong now eh IDK right and actually convert the GPUs as a vehicle for the glory right which is cuz a super and kind of one of my messages to the heck communities that you know it's an 8020 rule right so there is twenty percent of family i think but technical data engineering pipeline so all what you guys are doing in the central because they discuss to come in so they're in or into the pipeline and usually safety i right so so somebody needs to do all the market services then you can aggregate the data it's funny like you might find yourself a little circle rather go away eventually has to see the kind of some deployed and running all over yet correct right so it's just like you know they're interesting cool so uh so looking forward to a talk about kind of what do you thing is i mean who is obviously like microservices in the christian right that's everybody's and i'm talking about them i think what you describe is a very reasonable way to to death this where do you think we're going to be in in the year and what do you guys want to be a year from now like architecture wine architecture wires business-wise like what do you want people to be able to do right so eventually we want to be able to sort of replicate everything that you have not only your code but also your infrastructure as well in amazon you know allows us to take different instant sites so will not only be able to run your code will also be able to define your exact machine yes and for large with SSDs and running just kind of network whether it's like we've calico or some custom network that you're running ideally we'd be able to suck all that in and you know how to program entire run man that way that's sort of the dream as a company and architecture wise I think we're already on the press or of event driven programming but there's no some services like our monoliths that we still need to convert to the adventure and so it's only I wish would make everything sort of follow the jacket pattern right so so your files correctly you want to take my cold and you get all the wrong exact so you want to figure out so if you see I do all the pru thank you for you instantly exactly right thing correct I'm super tender moment I want to see it so thank you very much looking forward to talking exploring levels so thank you
