my name is a sack Lobel Begelman I am a senior software engineer at Credit Karma on a on the data analytics team um I it was just being able to share our experiences right we had problems using a certain framework specifically acha actors and so we got kind of to tell our story and share our experiences with other engineers who have probably had similar ones so I think that's just really cool being able to kind of talk tech with a lot of people who are interested and just kind of you know understand some of those problems and get to hear about them firsthand and be like Oh other people have experienced this too I I think it's part of it it's almost like just the scale of it the fact that at some of our jobs right you get to query these like billion or multi-billion size data sets you know we have all these events and you get to see these cool trends that was always at least in school for me I loved making those graphs of like hey I caused this or I know how this all works that was why I liked chemistry so much as you had like the let's see the pH rates change and part of that is like when you're dealing with these analytics at scale you can kind of be like oh here's where we ship the feature and the gap spikes up to mean we like made more money or you know or people are that much more happy and you get to kind of really see the benefit of your work or other people's work I think that's really the drive is you know we're at a point now where computers are fast enough and powerful enough to where we can do all this modeling at these huge scales and you get to really see the impact of what you're doing at least that's for me what makes it so exciting yeah so this is an easy one for essa it's don't try to build your own acha streams if you want low latency use acha actors if you want high throughput uxaki streams don't be like us and try and build your own acha streams without actors that that's that's it oh boy well first off I'm not a data scientist so I can only guess but to get more involved in the data field I guess it's you know that there's a lot of good technologies out there and I think it's learning how to use them and learning some of the similar problems they try and solve and how to do that I always like to look inside the box I like to see how some of the underlying implementation for like spark for example you know and so maybe have that curiosity looking to have some of these things work and how to how to try and maybe build some of those your own or how to leverage them right know which tool to use in the right right right spot just because that there's a lot out there and the first thing that people are gonna want to see is someone who has experience with some of those tools and even better if they know how they work so I'd say that's why the fastest way to get there honestly I think to become a better one it's just you know have fun love what you do if you don't it's gonna be hard to become better at it so make sure you love it and you're trying to be better at and he'll just get easier and easier as you learn more and more and it'll be more fun each time hopefully you
