I'm Vladimir Beckman ski I am founder of hi spike and we are company will does custom development consulting and training in big data and scalable systems so data by the bay is very exciting conference because you meet so many people with different ideas different problem distant different questions and there is a great sharing that happens and what I particularly like as a speaker people are more encouraged to approach me and the sharing becomes even more intensive and one of the things that also happens is I may be able to help somebody with a good advice and that is very fulfilling for me so data is cool these days because now we have the means to gain some wisdom out of this data before data was collected it was stored somewhere and we did some most primitive processing on this data today we can discover things that were not obvious in this data we can learn something and then based on this learning we have the insights that we can apply in the real world around us and sometimes these actions have even impact in our physical world which is particularly exciting to see so on the practical level the main inside was the availability of a new technology which is very exciting because it gives us excellent performance and also it gives us ability to express ourselves in a more productive way and that means that development of big data applications can be done in faster more efficient way and on the meta level the advice is to always stay open and look for new technologies in new approaches don't get stagnant in the popular solutions which may not be the optimal match for your problem so constant learning exploring triangle things and always try to improve on things alright so my advice how to become data scientist or even data engineer would be to use two paths a one pass is the pass in which you would learn technologies and the try out things in a very hands-on fashion that will give you confidence that will give you a good feel but don't forget to read I will remember that one months of hard work can save you an hour of reading so what I advise everybody is if you want to become very knowledgeable in a subject read at least three books on the subject and you will see with every next book particularly when you combine it with your experience you will be getting deeper and deeper and when you're done with that try to find people with whom you will be able to exchange the ideas and particularly try to help and try to teach because only when you try to teach somebody then you actually get completely engaged and you're a force to crystallize you're thinking and knowledge in a form that can be shared
