[Music] yeah I name is Richard down I am the vp of data science at case text exciting thing I think it's just a lot of fun to share all the really cool things we're working on in case text I I think that we're changing the way the legal research is done in some very important ways and it's it's a lot of fun to get out and share with the audience I mean it's uh I think what's exciting is we finally have kind of crossed a threshold where we have enough cheap computing power to actually do stuff with it it's always been there but all of a sudden it's we have these tools and we can we can build stuff and I mean so I do a lot of stuff with text and a lot of language analysis 20 or 30 years ago people develop algorithms for them and thought this can never run it'll take years and now you can take some of these algorithms and you can run them blisteringly fast you can do stuff that was understood but only really dreamt about in any sort of real fashion decades ago and now that things we can improve upon it and just make it even better I think that the the extractive summarization we've been doing with judicial opinions I think provides a really really powerful way to read about case law it provides if you you very quickly get very concise and very well-written summarize of the the different opinions you're looking at and it just it makes it a lot easier to reason about what you do and don't have to read [Music] spend eight years in graduate school and then decide you want to change careers I I it seems like people are entering the field from all walks of life if you I I would say the most important thing is to have a strong mathematical and analytical background if you have that learning the tools is easy [Music]
