I'm James Mulholland I'm the UX manager for design and research at platform I think the most interested mote the most interesting thing for me and for being at data by the bay is really the convergence of so many different related and yet disparate practices of UX data and really people here are all trying to sort of understand how data can be used more effectively I think data is just really so pervasive right now it's a subject that can take you into the depths of some technological solution or it can impact you know the way that you communicate with your family so really data touches us at so many different levels so my talk was about re mixing the design process using data and I think the most important point that I wanted people to take away was there's such an opportunity I think untapped to use data at many different parts of the design process so as a designer I usually talk about different parts of the process from understanding your users to understanding the ideas that you're creating ultimately to the product itself and at each stage of the process there's an opportunity to use data to make better decisions I probably can't give advice on how to become a data scientist but from what I know about data scientists you need to be inquisitive curious and really have your head on straight because there's a lot of things to do and the technology is changing very quickly
