my name is Jurgen Ellen I am a data engineer at Capital One in the data innovation lab also known as vault 8 for me its meaning all the other speakers they tend to be super interesting folks doing really cool stuff so it's always a great opportunity to learn and just get guidance from them personally I've been diving really deep into streaming technologies there's been a lot of really exciting stuff happening as far as in-memory databases goes so those are kind of my two big interests I'm not as excited about the Internet of Things but I I think there's a lot of kind of interesting convergence happening on the more or less you know real-time side of things but actually real time on the order of milliseconds the main thing I'm bringing is kind of to think more critically and more sort of the way than engineering except when they when they build systems right that it's not just a single thing that you're building you really have to think about the system as a whole understand how all the pieces fit together how things are interconnected and we really have to do to make things work in reality rather than just kind of you know your toy problems or your prototypes you read all the things that you can and then start writing lots of lots of code and contribute to open source because that's the surest way to get direct and immediate feedback on what you're doing that will make you a better programmer data scientist and engineer or whatever whatever it is that you want to be you need a community of people around you
