[Music] so my name is hunter Whitney I'm a user experience designer consultant and author and instructor have my own consultancy it's a great opportunity and as a user experience designer I'm very very interested in the advent of things like machine learning artificial intelligence and what impact that's going to have on UX design and I specialize in data-intensive applications and data visualizations so it's an extremely relevant topic for me and think something I need to learn more about and also like to give my perspective on it [Music] why is it cool and exciting because we have the ability now like never before to actually collect data in ways that we're just unimaginable to process this data and to look at it to actually see things with it do things with it which is ultimately what the most important thing is get new insights so I think it just took the data has always been there but our ability to collect it and do something with it is now just exploding so this is world changing life changing [Music] so my talk was about coevolution and its UX in the relation changing relationship between humans and machines remind a machine I think what I'm really trying to get across is that it's going to be somewhat unpredictable process but that it's going to be very tightly intertwined relationship increasingly so and that design has a role to play and how that the outcomes are the trajectory of that relationship that it's used to be that humans did things and computers just sort of we're dead sort of one way kind of communications and now we're looking at computers and computers are looking at us we're adapting to them they're adapting to us and it's a very interesting complex dynamic and I don't think anyone really has a full answer and what's going to happen but I think being part of that or helping to understand and shape that dynamic is really exciting to me so I think the key is a collaboration actually a teacher class right now I'm teaching a class right now with the data scientist I think it's the sort of the dialogue i think that UX designers have something to bring to the equation i think the data scientists do into the collaboration or the discussion there's some points of overlap and there's some points of difference and trying to understand that the more i understand the world of data scientist the better i am as user experience designer going forward and actually i believe to the data scientists out there if the more they enter they appreciate and see the kind of work and things that i'm talking about the better data scientists that will be so as far as being great one I think it's being able to solve immediate problems but also think about the big picture you know think about human beings and think about the psychology that goes into data it's not just data there's always fingerprints on it so to speak human fingerprints on it and understanding that I think is really important you
