my name is Gopal ramachandran and I'm the head of technology at well friend I think the most exciting thing for me is seeing how similar approaches are being used in different industries I think working in healthcare we've learned a lot by seeing how things work in defense and finance and also how it's used social media technology companies I think there's a lot of problems that we're looking at right now where data is not only going to be critical to the solution it's probably like all of the solution I think in healthcare we have a lot of efficiency issues that we need to get around and I think data is sort of the key to doing that so that the the computer can pick up the workload that humans just aren't going to be able to match I think one thing that we've definitely seen is that data diversity is sort of a new challenge as the myriad sources of data sort of start to slows down where scale used to be the only challenge and I think it's going to take some very different approaches to handle this I think it's actually very pertinent to my talk so I think one thing that we've seen is our data scientists really start to need to start to feel comfortable being software engineers as well and we're trying to bridge that gap between data science and software engineering so that they can take their insights and really turn them into production features
