I'm Fenton quill I work for KX systems and my title is global head of sales engineering and it's great to just meet new people in the industry and talk about different technologies and you know the different trends that are going on especially out in the west coast and primarily based in the New York area so we deal with a lot of companies over there but we're trying to break into you know the industry out here as well so it's a you know very different mindset in many ways so it's about finding out the cultural differences from a technology perspective and well there's lots of it and there's even more of a coming down the line especially with the advent now of Internet of Things there's a lot of you know device management and I think data can be used for good and you know to make a real change in people's lives and there's a lot of coming down the line so we need to be aware I've had to capture it analyzed it and I think that's you know a big story and a lot of technologies out there aren't quite ready and so we hope that we are KX are already there and can help people along the way and we want people to be able to you know see what we've learnt in the financial industry and what we're trying to bring to these other industries now we feel that in many ways to finance industry has been a bit ahead of the curve in terms of big data management and we see in other industries that we speak to you know some of the data volumes that they're talking about her you know quite small compared to finance but now they're getting larger and larger which the advent of Internet of Things so we feel like we have some insight we have like a history of you know how to deal with these kinds of data volumes so that's pretty interesting hopefully we can you know put that across to people a different type of technology maybe you know that's not being a mainstream here in the west coast advice would be I guess go to school and you know just try different technologies there's a lot of stuff out there you know and just keep on researching and you know trying different tools it's always worth programming around at different different programming paradigms different tools and just just try different things sometimes people can get you know down 11 blind alley and they dig you know try and you know chisel something with the wrong tool so there's lots of different tools out there especially from a data scientist perspective narrow but you know sometimes there's too many for people's well say no you gotta manage yourself accordingly but i think you know try different tools and see which tool is best for which problem as well cuz there's different problems to be solved and they usually can't be solved by the one thing you know not all things to all men or women you
