my name is Barack Trotsky I work for Google and I am leading the product and design team for google translate I think in general Google Translate is one of the oldest and largest machine learning systems in the world and it was exciting to share our experience and our insights from what we have done with rest of data database of a participant I think machine learning in general is going through this you know reincarnation if you will because for Google Google Translate just celebrated its 10th anniversary so for us that's not a new thing we use machine learning for a very long time but obviously there is a disruptive shift to things like computer networks and other big data related stuff and if I think it's very exciting its potential next incarnation of computing and how people develop software so that's very exciting for Google and for me personally I think that in addition to training the data which is very important for Google Translate there is a lot of complexity and actually massaging the data preprocessing the data post processing the data to get to optimal results and then many cases people might have the simplistic view so that's all about training data training but as much more than that at least for translations of our languages well first of all consider working for google but other than that I think just being there attending conferences like database the bay and just learning taking classes it's a very new field there is actually probably a lack of talent and also lack of good training materials so in many cases learning from people that are already doing it and have experience is very important
