akash mukherjee akash and i work at facebook it's great that there's a whole conference dedicated to data and the fact that we had this speak speakers talking about completely different aspects of data ranging from machine learning to data visualization to engineering so it's great to and and people coming from different backgrounds designers and engineers and product managers so that's great yeah sure that's a very interesting question so data I think data would interest a lot of people and me because it's it's the only thing that I know that's so domain agnostic it it it belongs to each of every business I would be surprised if you can name one industry that's not touched by data or that doesn't generate any form of data so wherever there is anything about any physical object in this real world or any human being living there is data and data makes you close to the business so that that's why i think it's it's so cool like when you're working with data you're learning about people you're learning about the world yeah so the biggest message that I had to send across to people is to keep an open mind about data visualization and communicating information what I have observed in in the indian industry is a lot of times we tend to form very rigid opinions about something should be done in a particular way and not the other but but technology is changing at a fast rate data is increasing at a large in large amounts so the challenges are evolving every day and on top of that you have these people from different backgrounds and different experiences that they bring along with them so if we if we don't open our minds and be more creative about solving problems in a different way even when it comes to communicating and visualization we're just visualizing data then we will get a fall behind so it's about keeping an open mind oh so that so I probably wouldn't be able to give a lot of advice how to become a data scientist but I can tell you how to become a good data person in general and data visualization person basically just be curious about solving up like trying to answer trying to ask a lot of questions at first about everything and start with the topic that interests you so for me for example movies interests me a lot so I started looking at public information that's available on IMDb and just as my side projects i would take these these projects and work on that it so different things that interest different people some people have interested more in sports or it could be anything art or so and and while i would agree that there are some domains where data is more readily available and more accurately available exports is the easiest one to get so some yeah get started with that and start playing because you can learn a lot on your job but doing things on the side kind of also shows your passion and you that means you are you really love that job that you are aspiring fun you
