I'm Chevy I'm a train and i'm the vp of engineering at kora the most exciting thing about being at data by the day is first of all i love to talk about Korra and all the exciting work that we do that there but I even liked it more when I'm talking to a technical audience that understands the tangled details that are behind the algorithms and the data science approach that we are doing so the combination of talking about the product with some technical background and technically minded people data is cool and exciting because we can transform data into a lot of different things we can reform data into applications are really cool and exciting and we can transform data into knowledge and extract a lot of information that in the past we never even knew that existed the main inside is data and text it's just material that can either be noise or be turned into knowledge and insight and how you do what you do as a data scientist the scientists in between so like that raw material and the outcome is really really important so you can again have a lot of data but don't gain anything out of it but if you have a good approach you can really turn it into a product that users want to use and into knowledge that it's making the world a better place so there's a lot of things that you can do in between em it's in the hands of people working with data data scientist or engineer and machine learning experts to become a data scientist I think the most important thing is to be curious and to seek to understand things I think that's a really broad piece of advice that maybe could be applied to anything including a data scientist an engineer and so on but I think for a data scientist even more so it like wanting to really understand what that data you're seeing that graph that you are plotting means and what's behind it what is the rationale that explains how things work and how things behave so being curious and rigorous on the approach to understanding numbers and data and graphs I think that's the essential thing how to become a great one I think in order to become a great data scientist you need to probably pursue things that have projects that have impact in a real-life kind of way and you can apply the design science in many different ways and ways that you can maybe even make money but they're not going to have a huge impact in the world or in users I think becoming greater design this is having that rigorous approach to data and curiosity combined with seeking some real-world impact through those skills you
