you [Music] you my definition of AI is any sort of next-generation technology that really that really aims to replicate something what humans do the way we think about the world the way we interact with the world or we understand the world it's a software and technologies that understands doesn't just act it understand and that kind of informed what it does so in my world of technology journalism's that you know robots that can know what they're doing its cars that drive themselves its systems that attempt to replicate the human judgment in the world I think right now it's kind of an early stages where it's good at it's good at starting to understand the world that's the way we understand it so the perception is getting pretty good so it can start to recognize images it can start to recognize people and faces and situations and dangerous situations like in the case of a self-driving car so it's kind of at that that level of like being able to understand a little bit but it doesn't have that same human emotions and spirit and real real proper judgment and knowledge there that would kind of that humans that you know come naturally to you it comes back to me tonight and where it's headed I mean who knows right there's there's so many different options I think it's generally Heather in a degree in a good way maybe making some of our lives a bit easier but I mean we have to be careful of the impact it does have on people we could not create these technological solutions and there are unforeseen problems there with putting people out of work or change in the way that people are used to even with each other and with their devices and work and leisure time so I think it's you know Daret there are definitely it's great promise and we know it's the job will generally sly myself and sort of keep an eye on it and make sure that you know that we don't go down the wrong path yeah I mean Mikey phone focus right now is like I think it's kind of two areas like robotic vehicles or thalamus an automated vehicle I'm really excited by their potential to reduce injuries and reduce deaths on the road and what keeps me up at night is the idea that you know that they won't do that the idea that they there will be there will be unexpected failures that the idea that the technology be rolled out before it's ready they're like I hurt people or hurt the technology it all kind of push back the progress that's been made and will keep having you know tens of thousands people are dying on the roads every year like kind of keeps me up and then the other area I kinda interesting is the automation of work and the way that a oh I could start to replace hopefully the most boring bits of work or at least make people more effective in their work so you know if something can help it doctor make fewer mistakes that's obviously a good thing but still keeping the doctor happy if I can be an assistive tool and then of course the flip side of that is pretty obvious if you start offloading a lot of that responsibility to her to the digital system you know they're obviously there's all kinds of problems that could come up there I think it's great to people i think it was comes down to the people great panelists great presenters great conversations you know during the presentation and great questions and then great conversations you know outside it's not too big a conference which i think is great so it means you we can have a connection with you know the presenters and also euro you know the audience as well your fellow attendees you [Music] you
