you [Music] you [Music] artificial intelligence has historically been a science-fiction term and one of the things that's really exciting is that now science fiction is becoming science fact into becoming implemented reality my definition of artificial intelligence is it's the bar just beyond the current state of the art of machine learning specifically to what we do a domino data lab AI is the set of things that we let our customers train yeah so one of the funding characteristics of a is that allows data scientist to answer questions higher up on Bloom's taxonomy we're no longer asking questions of recall or computation we're asking questions that are structural that are you know evaluative where it's succeeding right now is in succeeding in places where we've been able to formulate good questions the problem is that a skill is we may be at the mathematics or the actual algorithms as a practice we still need to learn how to do formative and summative assessment and how to really bring that into great question asking there's a lot of things that keep me up at night about artificial intelligence and machine learning probably the strongest one is that artificial intelligence and machine learning I asked math are oftentimes codified as reality and we ignore the fact that the reality is behind a subjective lens and it may be capturing the greater biases the greater you know of racism sexism misogyny that is in our society once we've actually taken the step and we've actually implemented artificial intelligence that has learned from us not just the good but the bad as a society in a culture we need to understand how to tease out those biases and make sure that it is not you know strengthening you know the darker parts of our society that is actually like helping raise us up and do things more productive not just holding down those that are already disenfranchised ah my favorite thing about AI by the bay has got to be the location it's a fantastic location it was really easy to get to you know it's a beautiful space what I'm looking forward this to this week it's just the list of speakers it's just an incredible list of speakers that have come together under one roof and you know as artificial intelligence and machine learning goes from being on the periphery of the business to being part of the core identity of the businesses that survive the coming transformation these are the voices that are really going to set the standard for how AI is deployed in our world [Music] you
