Real-time multi-user collaboration through authenticated data connections in notebook environment

A system enables real-time collaborative access to a notebook environment comprising a plurality of executable cells, including cells that retrieve data from a data warehouse. In response to a request from a first client device to access the notebook, the system checks permission and presents a first view; it then receives a request to initiate a collaboration session with a second user and sends an invitation to a second client device, keeping the users' views synchronized while preserving per-user data-connection credentials.
