Using predictive optimization to facilitate distributed computation in a multi-tenant system

The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that uses a predictive-optimization technique to facilitate distributed computation in a multi-tenant system. The system receives a MapReduce job, uses a model trained on previous MapReduce jobs to determine resource-allocation parameters that optimize execution performance, allocates resources accordingly, and executes the job.
