Making OSS AI a Reality for Developers
This sounds self-evident — Open-Source AI is software, and software is written by developers. It used to be written by developers alone, but now we have copilots and AI-native coding becomes the norm going forward. Still the ultimate users of AI are people, the organizations that build and deploy it are structured as research, engineering, product and MLOps teams. And the way we build AI starts with wrapping our minds around it.
There was nothing comparable with the tsunami of information washing over developers with AI since ChatGPT launch. GenAI aspirations, FOMO, and opportunities permeate and disrupt every business. Every knowledge economy process will change, and developers are the ones building the new economy.
Developer advocates, those supporting developer relations, doing devrel, are the vanguard of the AI revolution. We have to go out and teach developers how to use our tools and systems, or how to integrate them in AI stacks. Often, we are just one or two steps ahead of those we teach. How do we approach it? What are the best practices? How do we keep it real?
DevReal.ai is a shared resource for devrels in AI, and those anywhere who integrate with AI. Every developer is an AI developer now. Whether using copilots or querying LLMs, building RAG or GraphRAG stacks, and glueing it all together with LangChain or LlamaIndex, you become an AI engineer, AI developer, you name it.
We’re presenting some of the best developer talks here. We invite the best devrels to share their thoughts, findings, and ways to help developers build AI/with AI. We lean heavily into OSS AI but are inclusive of all AI stacks with strong OSS interoperability.
