Quick start

From question to connection

What each setting shows

The controls, decoded

Search the graphPerson, project, topic…

Search matches node names and descriptions. It also includes media in the results, so a speaker, event, or title can lead directly to a video or photo record.

All

A people-first overview of the graph. Media nodes are tucked away until you search or choose Video or Photo.

Person

Speakers, organizers, interviewers, developer advocates, and other community members.

Event

Conferences, meetups, and gatherings. Open one to find its talks, speakers, and media.

Talk

Conference sessions, panels, demos, and interviews.

Video

Recordings connected to talks, speakers, events, companies, and projects.

Photo

Photo galleries and albums from conferences and meetups.

Company

Organizations that employ, sponsor, host, or appear in the community.

Project

Open-source projects, products, and community initiatives.

Topic

Technologies and ideas shared across talks, people, projects, and events.

From topic To person

Use From → To for a relationship lens.

Open the pill, choose a source type and destination type from the two colored columns, then click a source node. The graph isolates the shortest paths between those kinds. “Show full neighborhood” returns to normal exploration.

How far to travel

Depth 1

Direct evidence

Only the selected node’s immediate connections: a speaker’s talks, a talk’s event, or a project’s contributors.

Depth 2

Useful context

Add connections of connections: a speaker’s talks, then the events, companies, projects, and media around them.

Depth 3

Wide discovery

Reveal the broader community around the selection. Best for discovery; expect a denser map.

Tip: Depth changes which nodes are emphasized, not the underlying data. Faded nodes remain in context while the chosen neighborhood stays bright.

Desktop and mobile

Pan

Drag empty space with a mouse, trackpad, or finger to move across the graph.

Zoom

Use the corner buttons on every device. A mouse wheel or trackpad scroll also zooms.

Reset

Return to the original position and scale whenever you lose your bearings.

Tap a dot

Inspect

On small screens labels are hidden to keep the map readable. Tap a dot to see its name and record card.

Read connection strength

Not every edge is equal

Brighter and thicker means stronger.

Every edge takes the colors of the nodes it connects. Person-to-person links glow green, and selecting any node lights up all of its visible connections. Thickness still reflects repeated evidence: multiple interviews, shared talks, working together, or contributing to the same projects.

The scoring model will evolve as the graph gains richer relationship data.
