We start SF Text with two talks representative of our startup engineering focus:

Grant Ingersoll, CTO of Lucidworks, the company behind Solr/Lucene, will overview the current status of the most trusted open-source search stack in the world. Grant is a co-author (with Tom Morton) of Manning's Taming Text ( http://www.manning.com/ingersoll/).

Adam Pingel, Katrin Tomanek, and Gabor Melli of VigLink will present a text mining pipeline that connects readers with focused ads based on phrases relevant to merchants. VigLink is a rapidly growing company centered around text understanding.
