SBTB 2023: Paul Chiusano, Typed and compositional microservices in Unison
ai.bythebay.io Nov 2025, Oakland, full-stack AI conference After a brief overview of the Unison language, this talk introduces a new approach to building microservices. In Unison, services are represented as typed functions which can be called from other services almost as if they were local functions: without any serialization or networking boilerplate. Furthermore, these services can talk to new kinds of typed, durable storage, also without serialization boilerplate. We'll introduce these ideas and more and show a demo of developing several services in this style.
